Do you have a secret recipe? You know, the recipe to those AMAZING cookies that always seem to have the perfect amount of gooeyness to crunch ratio with an extra ‘something’ you just can’t quite put your finger on. You know who you are!!! Secretly, I’ve always wanted to be one of these secret keepers! To have a recipe in your possession that only a few have access to. And a recipe that can only be passed on by YOU revealing the secret ingredients. I think what I am most intrigued by is the ability of these recipes to actually remain secrets. Like Carmen (my sister’s mother-in-law) who is the secret keeper to THE most amazing red velvet cake recipe EVER, a recipe gifted to her from her Grandma who originally purchased a copy of it from the historic Waldorf Hotel for $100 (a pretty penny back in the day. And yes, its THAT good!). And thats another thing: there is always a story. A tale to how the recipe came to be, how it was passed down, and how it was first tasted. I love that.

Last year, I met a secret keeper to a highly acclaimed Snickerdoodle recipe. And like most great secret recipes, there was a story. It started on Valentine’s Day when Darren (the secret keeper) made Amy some of his Snickerdoodle cookies. I don’t know if it was the secret ingredients he put in the cookies or just the perfect amount of gooeyness, but something left Amy’s heart craving more of Darren that day.

One year later to that day, Darren surprised Amy with a box full of his famous Snickerdoodle cookies. This time, the cookies had a new secret element frosted atop them asking “Will You Marry Me?”.

Oh, the beautiful story this secret recipe will forever tell! Here are a few images from Darren + Amy’s beautiful wedding this last August…
The sweetest first look….
Darren was blown away by his beautiful bride! Love his reaction!
Darren + Amy brought their sweet love story to each of their guests by having two Snickerdoodle cookies at each plate! And to add a little extra sweetness to this, Darren made ALL 800 Snickerdoodles for the wedding!
The gorgeous head table!
In looooooove with this cake!
Introducing the new Mr. and Mrs. Huenefeld!!!
I love their spin on the photo booth using a duck blind, adding a personal touch with the groom being an avid duck hunter! Isn’t this great?!?
