I was eight years old and my dad decided to sell his work truck. It was a 1978 green, hand-me-down Ford pick-up and I was devastated by the news it was to be sold. So much so, I sat and cried inside the pick-up before it left. Yep. I guess you can say I’m sentimentally wired, and these days it seems like my eight-year-old self is in full force again.

Big or small, little steps or giant leaps, progress or new beginnings, its important we celebrate, commemorate, and recognize these things. Another sliver in my ‘why’ I love photography so much. I love getting to capture moments, milestones, special days, special years…essentially getting to freeze a moment from that time to hold onto forever. This. This feeds and fuels my sentimental soul!

Just the other week, I had the sweet pleasure of documenting Alyssa’s 8th grade portraits. I have known Alyssa’s family for many years and have documented their family and her siblings several times before, so it was extra special to me to hear she requested me to take her pictures. Heart swell. We had such a fun afternoon together and I’m excited to share a few of my favorites from my session with this beautiful soon-to-be-graduate!
Two of my favorites!
Okay, yes, I have major dimple envy! Can you blame me?
Alyssa, you are beautiful!
Another favorite!
Can’t wait to see all the wonderful + exciting things God has in store for you in high school!
