This past week, I read Unbroken, the inspiring true story of Louie Zamperini, a great American track runner and Olympian who was drafted into the service during World War II and survived 47 days at sea on a raft, and more than two and half years as a prisoner of war. His incredible journey was gripping and brought tears to my eyes. The pages filled me with hope through this remarkable account of human resilience. More so though, it brought me great pride to be an American.

I am so grateful to those who have bravely served our country, like Louie. Today, we honor those men and women who gave their lives while serving our country. To those who served so bravely, and to those who still fight on for our country, thank you! I am ever grateful for this freedom we have…

happy memorial day
