They met at church. Kim played the keyboard, while Andrew led the worship for their church’s youth group. Week after week, they gathered together for worship rehearsals, reviewing music notes as they prepared for upcoming worship. As he led the team each week, Kim couldn’t help but also take note of Andrew. His positive attitude and sense of humor had a way of making her smile, and left an impression on her heart.
Perhaps it was the way Andrew made her laugh, or the way Kim’s smile caught his eye as they rehearsed together, but it wasn’t long before the two realized they shared more than a love of music and ministry. The two began dating, and time proved to deepen their love and adoration for one another.
Four years later, on the shoreline of Santa Monica, a photographer friend hid nearby to capture Andrew as he prepared to propose to Kim. Hand in hand they walked towards the ocean waves, and just as the sun set over the horizon, Andrew asked Kim to be his bride and begin their lives together…forever.

Andrew and Kim will be marring this October at the beautiful Koetsier Ranch, so we headed up to Sequoia National Park for their engagement session and enjoyed an afternoon under the canopy of magnificent trees.

I couldn’t be more excited to be documenting these two. Their hearts for Jesus, others, and each other are so big. It was fitting to have their giant hearts paired with the giant sequoias for this session : )!
